With the Legion already having won the A180 Men's League, the battle for second place was between the Merkister and Noust 1. The Merkister gave their game difference a big boost with a 12-3 win against the Pomona, and although Noust 1 also won, they had a closer 9-6 score in their derby match against Noust 2. That means that the Merkister have all but wrapped up second place, with Noust 1 having to win both their remaining matches that were postponed earlier in the season 15-0 just to tie. There were 180s from Dennis Watt (Legion), who had two, Erik Walls (Pomona), Neil Croy (Noust 1) and Kevin Critchlow (Noust 1). Juicy Johnston (Smithfield) had a 131 checkout, Joe Doyle (Royal) had a 119, Ken Kennedy (Noust 1) had a 112, and Alan Brown (Noust 2) had a 103.

The Legion went into their A180 Men's League week 13 match with the Merkister knowing that win would put them out of reach of the other teams in the League. Things didn't start well for the holders though, with their Harray opponents winning the doubles 2-1, then taking the first singles to make it 3-1. Some good darts and close games were played after that, but unfortunately for the Merkister, they couldn't add to their total and the Legion ended up 12-3 winners, securing their fourth straight title in the process. Kenny Gunn (Legion), John Munson (Merkister), Keith Chalmers (Legion), Stuart Kirkness (Smithfield), John Norquoy (Smithfield) and Erik Walls (Pomona) all had 180s and Juicy Johnston (Smithfield) went one better, with two. There were checkouts of 126 and 114 from Dennis Watt (Legion), 124 from Lennie Clouston (Legion) and 117 from Keith Leslie (Noust 1). Donald Clouston (Golf Club) had a 115 finish the previous week.

The last cup before the mid season break was played last week. The Golf Club Trophy, competed for by both men's and ladies' teams, as ever produced some interesting battles of the sexes, with some of the top male players being humbled by their female opponents. In the end though, it was the top two men's teams of this season, the Legion and the Merkister, who made it through to the final, and again the Legion just got the better of the Harray boys, winning it 5-3. There were 180s from Don Wilson (Legion), Kenny Gunn (Legion), Lennnie Clouston (Legion), Dennis Watt (Legion) and John Munson (Merkister).
Both men's and ladies' East v West fixtures were played on Friday, with the men playing in the Kirkwall Masonic Club and the ladies playing in the Stromness Golf Club. There were mixed fortunes for the West teams: The men's A team started off well, with Chris Seator winning the first singles and Keith Chalmers taking the third to give them and early lead. Unfortunately that advantage was short-lived, with the East's better finishing generally being the difference in some close ones. Lennie Clouston was the only other West player to win his singles. At 9-3 down going into the doubles, the West had a mountain to climb to get the 11 points needed for victory, and in the end it wasn't to be as the East won the first two to secure an 11-3 victory. The West B team had their work cut out against a strong East team, but just as they did last year, they produced some inspired performances. At 7-5 down with only the two fours matches left, they knew they had to come up the goods, and that's exactly what they did, winning both to take it to the single-leg 1001 tie-break. Under incredible pressure it was John 'Birsay' Norquoy who took out double 16 to become the hero and give the West the B trophy for the second successive year. The ladies made it two wins out of three for the West with an impressive 14-7 win over their rivals from the East.

Malcolm Smith (Golf Club) had a 126 finish, there was a 104 from Davie Hewison (Noust 2) and Dennis Watt (Legion) had a 100 checkout.
