2008 AGM summary

The office bearers for the new season are: President - John Munson; Vice President - Andrew Morgan; Secretary - Donald Clouston; Treasurer - Sean Chalmers.

A discussion ensued on the reporting of results. It was agreed that for the ladies, sending a text at the end of the matches was a success and that this should continue, Fiona Thomson agreed to accept the texts and to pass them on to Donald.

League Entries were as follows: Men's League, 7 teams: Golf Club, Legion, Noust 1, Noust 2, Pomona, Merkister, Smithfield. Ladies' League, 9 teams:- Legion (captain Lily Morrison), Merkister (captain Barbara West), Barony (captain Fiona Thomson), Noust (captain Linda Tait), Mistra (captain Lorna Williamson), Smithfield 1 (captain Lorraine Work), Smithfield 2, Pomona (captains Yvonne Stanger & Ann Shearer), Golf Club (captain Maud Heddle).

League entry to remain at £20 and cups £5.

The first cups of the season were decided as the men's Royal Cup, and the ladies' Legion Cup week beginning 15th September.

East v West captains are: men's A team - Keith Chalmers; men's B team - Donald Clouston; ladies' team - Barbara West.

The date for the ladies' East v West will be Friday 5th December, men's as yet to be confirmed.

League prizes to be kept to the same: £150 for winners and £50 for runners up. Singles and doubles entries to remain at £2 per person.

A prize draw will be done, to be drawn on the night of the mixed doubles at the end of the season. Neil Croy is to be the promoter.

Venues for individual competitions were decided: Ladies' Singles - Smithfield; Ladies' Doubles - Barony; Men's Singles - Golf Club; Men's Doubles - Merkister; Mixed Doubles - Legion.

Keith Chalmers raised the point of updating the constitution, and it was decided to have a committee meeting with all team captains, and an E.G.M. to ratify any alterations.

More singles competitions could be arranged, possibly a singles league for the men. The ladies decided against the extra games.
